5 Ways Women Sabotage Themselves with Men
On this week’s show, I welcome back Robert Manni, the author of the acclaimed novel The Guys’ Guy’s Guide to Love. His book focuses on love and relationships and how individuals may work together to communicate more effectively in an effort to build stronger connections.
This week, Robert and I discuss the five ways that women sabotage themselves with men. While it may be hard to believe, women impair their chances of finding the right man with every wrong move, and it can be difficult to pinpoint your problem areas. In this episode, Robert offers a few relationships tips for women struggling to maximize their skills when it comes to attracting men.
Put in the Effort to Get Out More
The first way that women sabotage themselves with men is when they fall into the routine of not going out and putting in the effort to actually interact with others. All too often, Robert says, you can feel as though it’s simply more comfortable to spend your time inside watching your favorite television show than going out and meeting people. It’s important to realize that “being in it to win it” is the most effective way of making meaningful connections with others and allowing relationships to take form.
Put Down that Phone to Meet Men Organically
Robert’s second way that women sabotage themselves with men is being constantly plugged in. When you don’t take the time to be in tune with your surroundings, you close off men that may be interested in striking up a conversation with you. Put the phone down, take the earbuds out, and take in the world around you. You’ll look and feel more open to conversation, and you’ll give men that window of opportunity they need to make their move. Keep in mind that technology poses as a major barrier to meeting people organically.
Look for Fish Where the Fish Are
The third way that women sabotage themselves is when they don’t look for men in the right places – or as Robert calls it, “looking for fish where the fish are.” Put yourself into a man’s shoes – where is he mostly likely to be? Whether it be a sporting event, a tech store, or the gym, look for men in the places that they’re most likely to be. Don’t expect the men to come to you – you must go to them.
Make Yourself Approachable
The fourth way that women sabotage themselves is by creating an obstacle for interested men by closing themselves off in a group. If a man notices you when you’re out with a group of five of your friends, he may find it difficult to maneuver that group dynamic. When women go out in packs, Robert says, it’s easy for a man to feel intimidated and fear outright rejection by the whole group.
Keep an Open Mind
Robert’s fifth and final way that women sabotage themselves is by sticking too closely to a list of requirements and expectations of potential partners. According to Robert, the longer you stay single, the longer your list grows. Realize that being too superficial won’t help you find the connection you’re looking for. Instead, focus on creating a list of values that are important to you in a man. This way, you’ll form stronger relationships with like-minded individuals. By keeping an open mind, you’ll allow yourself to understand a man on a level that goes far beyond the physical or material.
As a side note, Robert urges you not to dismiss a man too soon. Take the time to get to know somebody before moving on to the next person – you may be missing out on a spectacular relationship with the man of your dreams.
