I was born and raised in San Francisco and now I live in NYC, so I’ve had my fair share of Gay BF’s. I’ve always been their wing girl when we go out to gay bars…because who’s better at picking up a gay man, than a straight girl…right?!
After I would get the guy for my GBF, I would always give him dating & sex tips.
It’s funny, in all the years I’ve been a wing girl for my GBF’s, I’ve never once had any of my GBF’s be a wingman for me. I don’t know why that is…maybe it’s because some straight men might get weirded out that a gay man, was trying to pick him up for his straight girlfriend.
Well that being said, I also have never asked my GBF’s for sex tips. In fact, it’s something that has never even crossed my mind…until last week, when I was invited to see the off-Broadway play, “Sex Tips for the Straight Woman from a Gay Man”. With a title like that, of course I was expecting a comedy, and it completely lived up to it’s expectations.
The play revolves around three characters, a straight girl, a gay guy, and of course, the token hot guy.
Lindsay Nicole Chambers plays Robyn, a little uptight, inexperienced new host of the book forum. Robyn has that sexy, school teacher look going for her. The type that men go crazy for, because they fantasize that she’ll walk into a bedroom and then let loose by letting down her hair and pulling off her glasses.
Robyn is completely uncomfortable with hosting her first discussion with the co-author Dan, who is the gay man played by Jason Michael Snow (who by the way, is Seth Meyers twin brother separated at birth).
When the discussion about the book began, I thought Dan would immediately jump into the sex tips, but he didn’t. Like with any sexual encounter, Dan first starts off with a little foreplay by first giving Robyn some basic dating tips. It immediately grabbed my attention, as I really wanted to see if his dating tips aligned with the dating tips that I give my female clients. And to my surprise, Dan’s dating tips were spot on!
Dan’s Dating Tip #1: When entering a bar, appear confident but also interested in your surroundings. That’s the signal to men, that you’re open to new “friendships”.
Dan’s Dating Tip #2: As long as you’re being attentive to one another’s needs, you can’t go wrong!
Dan’s Dating Tip #3: When entering a bar, appear confident but also interested in your surroundings. That’s the signal to men, that you’re open to new “friendships”.
That’s when I became completely intrigued. I thought if a gay man is getting all the dating tips right, then certainly his sex tips are going to be amazing!
Dan tries his best to get Robyn to loosen up and teach her some “hands on” sex tips. But Robyn struggles with trying to be professional and let loose at the same time by practicing on Stefan (played by Andrew Brewer), the hot guy with the amazing body.
Dan ends up giving Robyn some really amazing sex tips…and even makes some audience members partake in the demonstration on stage. And we in the audience, were given instructions to practice at the same time.
It was like being in a classroom and Dan, the teacher was instructing us on what to do. At first I felt a bit awkward, but then I quickly realized…I definitely wouldn’t have remembered these magical moves, had I not been the good student and practiced. Now I can’t wait to try these sexy new moves on a guy!
Believe me, Sex Ed in high school was never like this…maybe if it was, I would have learned something!
The whole time during the play, I kept thinking…wow, all these years and I never thought to ask my GBF’s for sex tips, what a missed opportunity!
Now, I can’t give you all the great tips Dan gave us…so, I highly suggest when you’re in NYC, that you grab your GBF and go see the play. Surely, you both won’t be disappointed. And if you don’t live in NYC, then I highly suggest you pick up the book, Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man.
