Show #193: My guest on the show is Duana Welch, Author of “Love Factually”.

This week, my guest on the show is Duana Welch, the author of Love Factually: 10 Proven Steps from I Wish to I Do. With a PhD in developmental psychology, Duana found her interests shifting over the years to the psychology of relationships. She was convinced that if she could use her background in social science to help others, she could in turn help herself better understand how romantic relationships work and how to build them. As Duana embarked on her journey of self-discovery and self-improvement, she began writing books with dating tips for women that struggle with love just as she had.

Duana and I discuss an issue that affects most women at some point in their lives: dating burnout. While this period in a woman’s dating life may feel overwhelming and discouraging, it can be overcome. On this week’s show, Duana offers a few dating tips for women on how to deal with dating burnout and emphasizes the importance of practicing self-compassion during the process.

Duana’s first tip for dealing with dating burnout is to check your thinking. Too often, women are weighted down by the idea that all the good men are taken. Take the proper steps to escape these inaccurate thoughts and apply yourself. When a solid effort is put forth, a woman is more likely to connect with the right man, fall in love, and begin to build the relationship she’s been waiting for.

When it comes to overcoming unproductive ways of thinking, Duana encourages women to notice and redirect those thoughts. The second tip for dealing with dating burnout is to challenge inaccurate thoughts with reality. Yearning for romance and connectivity is not a sign of desperation, and it’s crucial to recognize that it’s normal to be in active pursuit of love and happiness with another.

Duana’s final tip for women dealing with dating burnout is to put all other thoughts aside and “just do it!” Compare your search for the right man to the search for the right job. You would do everything you could to cultivate stability and financial support with the right career – you should put even more effort in finding a life partner that is perfect for you. Don’t wait for the right man to find you. Take the leap and find him!

What do you think about Duana’s dating advice for women dealing with dating burnout? In the comments below, leave us your thoughts and experiences on overcoming this stage of dating life.

Oh my goodness. This video is so judgemental and harsh in places referring to ‘these women’. I’m successful, happy but yes dating can be tough even for the most resilient for us!
